The Helen Doron Young Heroes campaigns highlight the values of the company and empower our students to practise them actively on an ongoing basis. Each of the past campaigns has successfully encouraged our communities around the world to get involved, and many of the projects have continued over the years. The global Education franchise, successfully operating for over 37 years with locations in 40 countries, is unique in putting values for life at the forefront of its teaching method, as well as within every level of its international network. The focus of the 2021-2022 Young Heroes campaign was enabling children, tweens and teens to perform simple acts of kindness and inspire others to do the same. The theme emphasized that “kindness costs NOTHING but means EVERYTHING!”

Cash prizes were awarded to the top 3 Young Hero projects’ chosen non-profit organisations as follows:

1^st Place – Spain with “The Great Food Collection Campaign”   €5,000 donation to “Food Banks of Spain”

All of the Helen Doron English Centro Helen Dorons in Spain joined the Great Food Collection Campaign that has been carried out throughout their country every year. All of the 80+ Helen Doron schools together collected almost 10,000 kilos of food. Families, students, teachers and franchisees collaborated by contributing their share so that no one will go hungry. All of the food collected was been donated to the food banks in all of the cities in Spain where there are Helen Doron Centro Helen Dorons.

2^nd Place – Serbia “Children’s Shelter”   €2,500 donation to “Belgrade Children’s Shelter” 

There are two shelters for poor or neglected children in Belgrade, Serbia. Workers and volunteers at these shelters work hard and do their very best to provide basic necessities for these kids. At Helen Doron in Belgrade, they decided to help these children and make their winter holiday a bit easier and a lot happier. They collected toys, board games, clothes and sweets for them, as well as donated several Christmas presents to the shelter. “You will give a little of your time, but you will get so much more in return.”

3^rd Place – Bosnia & Herzegovina “Spreading Kindness for Elders   €1,500 donation to “Udruženje građana – Oplemeni srce”

Students from all of the Helen Doron English schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina came together with a common idea of showing kindness to older neighbours and relatives, showing them how much they appreciate their knowledge, wisdom and experience, as well as delivering warm meals to those in need. They also visited nursing homes and brought gifts.

Educational franchise suspends all online and offline services to the Russian market

As the Ukrainian crisis intensifies, the Helen Doron network in Europe has provided continuous support in many ways to their suddenly displaced community members.  Unfortunately, the worsening situation has left the global brand’s management no choice but to halt operations in Russia for the present time.

CEO and Founder Helen Doron explains, “In the past weeks, we have been actively monitoring the situation in Ukraine and assessing its impact on our local and global operations. The attack on Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis in Europe have caused unspeakable suffering to millions of innocent people. As an international educational franchise brand, it is only natural that we join the world in condemning aggression and violence against civilians and children. The situation is extraordinarily challenging for a global franchise brand like ours, and there were many factors that we had to consider before taking steps.

Despite the effects of the worldwide pandemic, Helen Doron Educational Group, the global franchise, continues to grow and expand.

Every year, master franchisees from across the globe, as well as the head office team, meet together to share knowledge, information and ideas. As travel is curtailed this year due to Covid-19, the conference was held online, with franchisees from 38 countries participating virtually.

Highlights of the online conference included a wide variety of topics chosen to empower the franchisees’ businesses and introduce new pedagogic programmes and digital product releases.

CEO and Founder Helen Doron delivered the welcoming remarks and presented the latest in pedagogics and teacher training. Chief Customer Officer, Eli Fefer, summed up the achievements of 2020 and summarized all that was accomplished and maintained throughout the entire network during the coronavirus crisis and expounded on goals for 2021 and beyond. Head of Marketing, Naomi Teper-Neer, presented marketing highlights from the past year, focusing on the strength of the company’s DNA, messaging and campaigns for the franchise’s 35th birthday, and upcoming projects, campaigns and summer camps. Business Training Manager, Diego Bronstein,  presented various new tools to support franchisees’ businesses, including an extensive internal Learning Management System developed for the entire network.

Other experts augmented the presentations with additional support topics, and each section was followed by a lively question and answer session. Additionally, the talks on “Overcoming the Challenge of 2020: Master Franchisees Share Best Practices for Coping and Moving Forward” were presented by various perspectives on how they are managing and succeeding.  Breakout sessions on a myriad of topics were developed to support business development from all angles.

Participants were delighted to hear that their network has been awarded an acclaimed Global Franchise Award for the 3^rd year in a row, this time for Global Mentorship, thanks to the unprecedented support provided to the entire network of franchisees, teachers, parents and students. The company won the esteemed Global Mentorship award two years in a row in 2020 and 2021 and Best Children’s Educational Franchise in 2019.

The conference attendees also congratulated Master Franchisee milestones of 10, 15, 20 years and more, while new franchisees and areas were welcomed to the “family”. Learning Centre franchisees joined in for part of the second day, with topics and discussions dedicated explicitly to boosting their businesses.

Feedback from franchisees was overwhelmingly positive and appreciative, based on the post-conference survey.

Songs have been a central theme in all Helen Doron programmes since day one of the past 35 years. CEO and Founder Helen Doron set out to try an innovative new way of teaching language, which evolved into a revolutionary methodology. Music is a powerful instrument and an integral part of the method; an exceptional tool featuring a massive variety of original music that no other company shares. Helen’s love of music and singing is reflected in every course, while her humanitarian values are taught through song lyrics and in the music itself.

A household name in much of Europe, Israel, Asia and Central America, Helen Doron has become synonymous with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) from very young babies up through the teenage years. A linguist by profession, Ms Doron pioneered the internationally renowned Helen Doron methodology of teaching English to young children in the same way they learn their mother tongue. Decades later, her very successful methodology is franchised in 38 countries, and over 3 million children have learned to speak English, thanks to her pioneering approach.

Helen Doron explains the importance of music in all of her courses, “Music is an integral part and the essence of my methodology. Anything that includes rhythm and rhyme, we know from empirical and academic research, boosts the ability to absorb the language’s phonological system, and children eventually become better readers and learn much faster. Even beyond the research, we remember songs from our childhood and our teens—every word of them that we loved so much and sang countless times while still in our formative years.

When using traditional songs, we change the words to teach for phonetic points, vocabulary points and/or grammar points. However, most of the over 1,000 songs in our programmes are totally original, and we write them to teach vocabulary, rhyme and grammar, whether the child is 3 months old or 18 years old.”

The music presented in each programme is extremely varied, using as many different styles as possible and comprise a full range of ethnicities and styles including African, Samba, Oriental, Middle Eastern, Latino, Rock, Twist, Pop, Rap, Tango, Folk, Hip-Hop, Yemenite and more.

As an integral part of the 35 Years of Helen Doron milestone, sub-campaigns have been created to celebrate the events around the music theme. These include The 35 Years of Helen Doron Anthem song and dance presented in an exciting video, offering students an engaging opportunity to upload videos of themselves singing and dancing. The 35 Years of Helen Doron Song Chart highlights a shortlist of the top 135 songs, presented in age-appropriate YouTube playlists, so everyone can vote to choose the top 35. Both campaigns will feature prizes.
